Fortunately, there are many fast and easy container water garden options that are open to you. If you don’t want to spend the effort in digging (or paying someone to dig) you a pond for a water garden, here are some easy ways to achieve fast container water gardens that are lovely to see and hear.

A Versatile Container Water Garden

Do you want a water garden without all the fuss? If so, here is one quick and fun project that will have your guests oohing and ahhing. This project takes all of a half hour to set up. A container water garden is essentially a large watertight pot with floating water plants. You can use your creativity to choose the container and the type of floating plant that you would like to put on display.

How to Create Your Own Unique Container Water Garden

Begin by finding a watertight pot that is the right size for your garden space and the plant you would like to feature in your water garden. A good choice is a glazed pot that can be used to grow lotus plants. These types of pots are known for their watertight structure. But if you cannot locate a traditional glazed lotus pot, any large watertight pot will do the trick. For the best effect, make sure that the watertight container you choose is at least 18 inches in height. You will also want a container that is at least 24 inches in diameter. When it comes to a water garden, aim for the size of half barrel. In fact, a half-barrel is the ideal size for your water garden, except that they are not watertight. However, many nurseries now sell plastic liners that are fitted to half barrels, which make it easy to transform a half-barrel into the perfect place to create your own water garden oasis. If you choose to use a half-barrel to create a water garden, make sure that you will be placing it in the right location. Remember that these are difficult to move and quite heavy, so they may not be ideal if you are planning to place your water garden on a deck or balcony patio.

Putting Together Your Water Garden

You will obviously need to work with aquatic plants in order to create your own water garden. You will need to fashion a platform on which your aquatic plant will sit. An easy way to achieve this effect is to use a stack of bricks on the plants can sit. However, this method should only be used if you don’t plant to move your water container garden, or if the weight of the planter does not matter. Once you have created a stable platform for your aquatic plants, you are ready to fill the container with water. Once you have filled your watertight container with water, arrange your aquatic plants on the platform in a way that you find pleasing. Let your imagination run free as you work on the composition of your aquatic plants.

Adding a Decorative Touch to Your Water Garden

If you want to hear the sound of water in your garden, you can add a neat decorative touch to your water garden by installing a re-circulating hand pump. This is an easy way to create a working water garden fountain. Simply install a small pump at the bottom of your water container garden with a short hose attached. This will keep the water circulating, which prevents the water from going stagnant.

Fast Container Water Garden Options is a post from: Gardening Guide

Easy Container Gardening for Busy People

Container Gardening

Flowers

herbs

Plants

Soil

Vegetables

Container gardening is a very easy way of growing flowers, herbs and vegetables. While tilling, weeding and planting plants in a big backyard patch can consume many hours and even days, container gardening is much faster.

All you need is essentially a good size container, a bag of good potting soil and the plant that you want to grow. There is no tilling, no weeding and no digging holes to plant the plants. Just add some soil about half way up the container, set your plant in and then fill around the plant with more soil. Container gardening is fast and easy and can even be achieved by busy people.

If you think you are too busy to have a garden and a healthy crop of vegetables, think again. There are many vegetables that do not need much attention. After planting, besides the quick watering, there are only a few other smaller things that need to be done to a container garden.

As we just found out, planting a container garden can be done in a very short amount of time. After you planted your chosen vegetables or herbs, the plant needs to be watered on regular bases, as well as fertilized. If you want to make your regular fertilizing efficient and fast to safe you time, just buy one of the liquid or powder fertilizers that can be added to the watering can and therefore combine the two steps into one.

Considering that you most likely will not have to weed a container garden, you save a lot of time. If you used proper gardening or potting soil bought at your local garden center you will have controlled soil in your container that should not grow any weeds.

During the growing season you might have to get some supports to help your plants support the vegetables. This task is also fairly fast done. At the time you buy your containers, soil and plants, just go ahead and buy some plant stakes that you later than just insert into the soil close to the plant and then attach the plant with some string or gardening wire to the stake. This should not take you more than a few minutes per plant and your crop is secured.

When getting ready for your container garden, make a list where you write down the essentials that you will need during the growing season. If you are able to get everything that is necessary to grow your plants right away before you start you will be able to safe a lot of time. You will have any and all accessories on hand and get your maintenance tasks done within minutes. This way having a container garden and getting a great crop at the end of the growing season is even possible for busy people. Whether you run from appointment to appointment or you work long hours, a container garden will need a few minutes of care at the end of the day from you, a few minutes that are surely possible in even the busiest schedule.

Some of these tasks can even be done by other family members if necessary. If you prepare the watering can the night before, your kids or other household members will be able to water your plants on the days that you might not be home because you are on business trip or similar. Even your neighbor might be able to help out on those days that you are out of town since it is so fast and easy to take care of a container garden. So go ahead and start one now, you will love the result and be proud of yourself when you harvest the first vegetables that you planted.

Easy Container Gardening for Busy People is a post from: Gardening Guide

Fast Container Water Garden Options

Container Gardening

Aquatic Plants

Water Garden

Water Gardening

You want to enjoy the soothing sound of water in your garden, but you don’t have the time, money or resources to create a pond or purchase a large fountain. Maybe even the weather guy can provide some information regarding this aspect although this is not always true. Libraries and book stores have books based on migration, on the roads that some bird species take to get to their summer or winter residence. Also, taking pictures of the birds you see around you and confronting them with informative materials that you already have or searching for information related to them can be an option to find out if these birds are going to make a stop in the area you live in.

Birds need water. This is highly important. A bath or a pool, no matter the size or the material, would instantly attract many bird families, even wild ducks and gooses.

If you could also arrange a place where they could find some food, bird seeds, bread or anything else they might like, that would increase the chances they made an escapade in your garden. You can try, for instance with corn. Seeds of any type also hold an answer to the question related to attracting birds towards your garden. The seeds that almost all birds prefer are sunflower seeds, extremely easy to find, and cheep also. Anyway, before buying the seeds, you should make a list with all the birds that are in the area and with every bird’s food preferences to assure you can provide food for many types of birds present.

These are the first steps that you have to make to attract birds in your garden. The second step is keeping away from the garden all the things that might scare or disturb birds. Animals from the next garden, neighbor’s dogs can scare the birds. Try and ask the neighbors to keep the dogs chained or in the house, because they are mostly scared by dogs.

Also, you must know that some birds do not agree with each other, so that a certain species might avoid your garden because there is another species in it. Some can also stay away because of the fact you have children and the noise is too loud, and others can stay away because the place doesn’t look natural enough. So, knowing their nature and customs can be a decisive factor in bringing them in our backyard.

Attracting Birds To Your Garden is a post from: Gardening Guide

Container Flower Gardening

Container Gardening

Adequate Drainage

Ceramic Pots

Flower Garden

Flower Gardening

Flower Selection

Granular Fertilizer

Green House

Hanging Basket

Kind Of Containers

Moisture Levels

Patio Deck

Potting Soil

Proper Drainage

Root Growth

Salvia

Summer Seasons

Tall Flower

Vibrant Blooms

Wooden Barrels

Young Flowers

For most people the sight of colorful, vibrant blooms is one of the greatest joys of the spring and summer seasons. Anyone can have the pleasure of planting, growing, and enjoying their own private flower garden. It doesn’t have to be time consuming or take up a lot of space. Container flower gardening eliminates the need for both. Not only can you express your creativity with your choice of flowers, but also in your choice of containers. It is easy to transform a drab patio, deck, or balcony into a work of art.

The first thing to decide is what type of containers you want to use. Before you can do that, you have to determine if you want a window box, hanging basket, or individual pots. Ceramic pots and wooden barrels make for a unique presentation. Strawberry jars are popular too due to their interesting shape. You can always go for a traditional plastic or terra cotta container as well. Whichever type of container you choose, they all must have adequate drainage. Otherwise, your flowers end up over watered and unhealthy. Be sure to pick containers that allow room for root growth. Container flower gardening is simple and rewarding with the correct kind of containers.

Of course you can’t plant without soil. Experts recommend a good, high quality potting soil. Be sure to buy one with vermiculite added in for proper drainage and moisture levels. Especially when replanting your young flowers from the plastic tray to the container, use a granular fertilizer to help promote growth.

When designing your new display, be sure to vary the heights and colors of your flower selection. One of the benefits of container flower gardening is that you get to be the designer and create the arrangement to look how you want it to. “Blue Victoria” Salvia is a good choice for a tall flower placed in the back of the pot. For a green contrast, you may want to consider “Trailing Rapid Blue” Lobelia. Your local green house personnel would be an excellent resource for determining which flowers to choose and how to place them.

Other important things to keep in mind for keeping your container flower gardening experiment healthy is the amount of sunlight it needs and watering practices. Depending on the species of flowers chosen sunlight and water needs will vary. Be sure you read the material that comes with your flower seedlings.

Container flower gardening is a fun, beautiful hobby that will inspire and delight you throughout the spring and summer months. Take your time in choosing your flowers and creating a wonderful floral display.

Container Flower Gardening is a post from: Gardening Guide

Container Gardening

Container Gardening

Apartments

Ceramic Pots

Condos

Container Garden

Container Type

Containers

Drainage Holes

fertilizer

Harmful Chemicals

Healthy Environment

Hours Of Sunlight

Mixture

Outdoor Patio

Plastic Pots

Proper Drainage

Soil

Terra Cotta Pots

Useful Plants

Vegetables

With the growing number of the population choosing to live in apartments and condos, many believe that their days of growing beautiful and useful plants is over. Thankfully this doesn’t have to be the case. A growing trend among yard less people is the option of container gardening. There are five key elements to keep in mind when growing your own container garden. The type of containers used, what kind of growing mixture, exposure to sunlight, fertilizer, and watering habits all need to be considered before starting your container paradise.

Container type is an important aspect of this style of gardening. You will want the containers to match or enhance your outdoor patio, yet be a healthy environment for the plants you want to grow. Wood pots can be prone to rotting. Cedar or redwood are rot resistant and can be used without staining. If using wood pots, be sure that it is untreated wood to avoid any harmful chemicals polluting your plants. Plastic pots deteriorate quickly in the sun and won’t last very long. While they are pretty, terra cotta pots dry out fast making them prone to cracking and breaking. Glazed ceramic pots are a good option for container gardening. Just be sure there are sufficient drainage holes in the bottom.

Your growing mixture will largely depend on what type of plants you want to grow. Due to the small space the plants have to thrive in, be sure to the mixture will allow proper drainage. You want the soil to retain moisture, but also drain off to avoid over watering. Check into the growing requirements of your plants to see if any sand should be added to the growing mixture. The right mix of soil and other components is very important in container gardening.

Once again when determining the amount of sunlight your container garden will need, check the requirements for the plants. This is especially true with flowers. Vegetables tend to need an average of five hours of sunlight daily.

In container gardening, fertilizer is a key element. Since the plants only have a limited amount of soil to draw nutrients from it is necessary to help them along. The recommended interval for fertilizing plants is every other time you water. Liquid seaweed is an excellent plant booster, just be sure to provide the plants with a wide variety of nutrients for the best results.

You will find with your container garden that watering is critically important. Whether it is a vegetable container or one with a stunning arrangement of flowers, container gardening is a fun and rewarding hobby. One of the biggest mistakes new container gardeners make is not providing adequate drainage for their plants. Container gardening drainage is a vital, important aspect of successful gardening. Without it, vegetable plants won’t produce as much and flowering plants may not survive at all.

It is true that almost anything can be used as a container for planting. The standard plastic pots usually can be bought with drainage holes already added. But for a more unique look, container gardeners have gotten creative and used items like old boots, hollow logs, and galvanized buckets and tubs as planters. These items and a host of others work perfectly well as long as they are equipped with drainage holes. Many experts recommend putting drainage holes in the bottom of the pot or container as well on the sides. By all means, have fun with your choice of container, after all it is supposed to be fun, but supply proper drainage for your plants. Container gardening drainage is one of the most important factors in successful gardening.

The physical placement of the pot is vital to proper container gardening drainage as well. In order for the container to drain well it is a good idea to place the whole arrangement on blocks or bricks to give the water a place to drain. If the planter container is left on the ground or flat surface the water pools at the bottom and root rot is more likely.

The tools you will need to make container gardening drainage holes depends on what the container actually is. If it is made of metal the best option is to use a drill to make the holes. In the case of a thin metal, like aluminum, it may be faster and simpler to make the holes using a punch of some kind. Drills also work well with wood containers and, if used carefully, ceramic pots. Your container choice was creative; it only stands to reason that the method you use to make drainage holes may have to be as well.

It can’t be stated enough that the one important key to container gardening is to provide sufficient drainage for your plants. Root rot and over watering is a sure way to ruin even the most well thought out plant display. Adequate container gardening drainage almost guarantees the garden of your dreams every time.

Container Gardening Drainage is a post from: Gardening Guide

Container Gardening Idea

Container Gardening

Decorative Grasses

Drainage Holes

Dwarf Varieties

Elegant Decoration

Evergreen Tree

Evergreen Trees

Flowering Plants

fruit tree

Good Options

Grocery Store

Home Cooks

Low Quality

Patio Deck

Pole Beans

Proper Drainage

Quality Grocery

Time Space

Vines

Visual Interest

Due to lack of time, space, and experience, many people give up on the idea of having a garden. They feel that gardening just won’t fit into their lives no matter how much the thought of growing their own plants interests them. Fortunately there is a way to experience the joy of agriculture without investing a lot time or money. Container gardening is an excellent way to participate in this enriching hobby. Flowers, vegetables, and decorative grasses are all good options for this type of gardening. As a matter of fact, any plant that grows in a traditional garden or flowerbed will do just fine in a container. The important thing is to follow your own container gardening idea.

One container gardening idea that has enjoyed a large amount of popularity is the landscaping container. Any container with proper drainage holes will do the trick. Some people have opted to plant small evergreen trees in their pots for a simple, elegant decoration in front of the entrance to their homes. Assorted flowering plants make a beautiful display as well. Plants that hang over the edges of the container create visual interest. Your creations could be placed on a patio, deck, or balcony for you to enjoy with family and friends.

As previously noted, many vegetables thrive in a container. Due to space, you may want to make sure vegetables like squash and pole beans have enough room to spread out as they are both very leafy and have a lot of vines. This container gardening idea can save you the hassle of often low quality grocery store produce. There is nothing like right off the vine quality in fresh vegetables. Chefs and picky home cooks often choose to grow their own produce for this reason.

It isn’t necessary to leave fruit out of your container gardening idea either. Remember the evergreen tree idea? You could easily modify it and plant a fruit tree instead. Dwarf varieties will work best due to the smaller amount of soil to draw nutrients from. In the regions that stay warm year round, citrus trees grow well. Gardeners in other areas may want to stay with fruit trees like apple, pear, and cherry. An indoor or outdoor container gardening idea would be to grow strawberries. Climate doesn’t matter with these because they can be brought inside when the weather turns cold. Imagine harvesting ripe, delicious strawberries off your own plants as opposed to purchasing the bland, tasteless ones in the supermarket.

Coming up with your own, unique container gardening idea is only limited by your imagination. Take the plunge and reap the benefits of your labor.

Container Gardening Idea is a post from: Gardening Guide

Container Gardening Ideas

Container Gardening

Begonias

Choosing Plants

Colorful Flowers

Container Gardening Ideas

Doorways

Flowerbed

Foliage

Fresh Cut Flowers

Good Options

Hanging Baskets

Imperfections

Occupants

Petunias

Plant Containers

Porch Roof

Shade Loving Plants

Stunning Masterpieces

Sun Shade

Visual Appeal

Visual Interest

Everyone likes for their home to be appealing to visitors and occupants alike. Nothing adds visual appeal like beautiful plants delighting the eye and maybe hiding some imperfections. An excellent way to use plants in decorating is in containers. Since they are portable they can be placed anywhere you may want a little color. This form of gardening is simple and can be used for the outside as well as the inside of the house. All you really need to create stunning masterpieces in a few container gardening ideas.

Having a bouquet of fresh cut flowers on a table is certainly not a new idea. However changing it up a bit and placing small containers of live plants on the table is a unique spin. Keep the pots small and the plants short. Nothing is more irritating than not being able to see your dining companions due to overdone arrangements. This is one of those container gardening ideas that aren’t often seen, but add a lot of character to a room. Just be sure to choose pots that compliment your décor.

Many people are stuck on the idea that gardens are to be placed on the ground level. The beauty of container gardening is that you can choose to draw the visual interest to a higher level. Hanging baskets are one option, but consider a tower or wooden rack to place plants higher on a patio or deck. You will also need to be able to reach the plant containers with a hose as using a watering can will be difficult at that height. Placing or hanging your tall arrangements in the vicinity of a plot flowerbed for a uniform look is another one of those good container gardening ideas.

If the area you want to beautify doesn’t get a lot of sun, shade loving plants may be just what you need. Petunias and Begonias are good options for spots like doorways overhung with a porch roof. The important thing to remember when framing in a front doorway is to think big. Use big containers filled with lots of colorful flowers. Choosing plants with gorgeous foliage is another one of the great container gardening ideas to consider with front door designs. That way after the blooms are gone, you will still have an impressive display.

There are many resources for helpful, useful container gardening ideas. The Internet, books, and your neighborhood green house are all excellent places to go for the latest information in this growing trend. Container gardening is a creative hobby that will add a lot of color and beauty to your home.

Container Gardening Ideas is a post from: Gardening Guide
